Resource

Reflection

Image result for open educational resources          The Open Education Resource is a great resource for my students because it is linked directly to the common core standards.  The resources can be searched by standard, and they include premade, editable worksheets that can be distributed to students.  The activities include discovery and inquiry based activities that students can manipulate on their chromebooks.  Since my classes will be 1:1 next year, this will be a great way for my students to explore the topics in a hands on manner.  I used the following resource in my eLearning Unit: Polygon Transformations.

The Open Education Resource also integrates directly with Google Classroom.  When I can share a resource though Google Classroom, it makes the activity go so much smoother because my students don't become frustrated with trying to type in the url or login to access the activity.  It saves the time that I used to spend at the beginning of an activity explaining to my student how to access the resource.

Finally, the Open Education Resource would pair really well with an activity through teacher.desmos.com where students are guided through a similar set of activities that they are able to manipulate in order to explore various concepts.  Desmos is used more and more at the higher levels, and the Open Education Resources are a great introduction to exploring math through technology and using online manipulatives for inquiry.  The Open Education Resources and Demos activities also both require the students to explain their thinking.  This is a very important skill and emphasizes the process rather than the product when learning a concept.
