Introduction

Hello Everyone!  My name is Katie Simmons, and I am entering my 4th year at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, IL.  Next year I will be teaching Geometry, Algebra 2, and Honors Precalculus.  Last year 3 of my classes were 1:1, and I loved the opportunities that it opened for my students.  My favorite tools were Desmos and Google Classroom.  I am excited for next year when our whole school will be one to one.

I am completing this course in order to obtain an Instructional Technology Endorsement and a Master's from St. Francis.  These courses as well as courses I have taken through EdTech have been very helpful by allowing me to practice using various technology tools that I can integrate into my classroom in order to enhance instruction.

  2. Hi Katie! Do you have separate Twitter accounts for personal and professional purposes? How much do you use your Twitter account for educational reasons - specifically with your students?

  5. Katie:

I am excited to see you experimenting with technology in your math classes. I know that can be a challenge with some of the tools we have available. Good luck on the class.

  6. Hi Katie! You are definitely the Google guru in our department so I will be leaning on you for support as we transition to 1:1 this upcoming year. I look forward to collaborating with you and working together on the A2 team.

  7. Katie, you have such a great head start on the 1:1 classroom. I look forward to picking your brain on what works and doesn't work in the math classroom. I would love to find out more about your experience with twitter. Do you use twitter more for the students or the parents?

  8. Katie - your students are lucky to have someone so enthusiastic about math and technology. I think math would be one of the more challenging subjects in which to incorporate technology. Maybe I can learn a little Desmos from you this summer?
