Resources Walkthrough Tool Observations Reflection I really enjoyed making and using the walkthrough tool for this course.  I had seen these tools used a lot on twitter through the hashtag #observeme, and I thought it was a great idea.  I researched how other people created theirs through ones that I found on twitter, and I created one that met my needs a goals. I wanted to make a tool that would provide me with enough information, but that wouldn't require my observer to spend a lot of time filling it out.  I considered the device that the observer would have with them when creating the tool and provide him or her with various options for providing feedback.  I probably wouldn't post a sign with the #observeme information on it outside my room because I wouldn't want students filling out the form. Resource Infographic Reflection I really enjoyed making this infographic for this assignment.  There is a lot of research to support the use of graphic organizers in classrooms, and infographics are a great way to organize information.  People are more likely to glance through an infographic for information than read through an article; so, it would be a great way to display information for not only class but professional development as well.  Each time a person sees the infographic hanging in the office, he or she might read a different portion, and it may inspire him or her to try one new thing that day. Resources Formative Assessment using an SRS Impossible to Fail Quiz Reflection           For the formative assessment assignment, I created a "impossible to fail quiz" using a google form.  This is type of assessment is also referred to as a "choose your own adventure" assessment or activity.  In order to advance to the next portion of the google form, a student must answer the question correctly.  This can be done through multiple choice type answers, or fill in the blank answers using data validation.  More information on this topic can be found  here .           I like this type of assessment because it is about so much more than testing a student's ability to answer a question correctly.  Students are given the opportunity to retry questions that they miss.  There are also videos or info graphics provided to students before they attempt a question and additional help is provided if the ...

Resource            Standardized Assessment Blog Post Reflection           For this blog post, I researched Khan Academy as a program to help students prepare for the SAT.  I was so blown away by the free, personalized resources that Khan Academy provides.  Students are able to connect their scores from college board in order to create a customized study plan.  Khan Academy even creates study plans based on the amount of time the student has to prepare for the test.           Programs like Khan Academy are so important because they even the playing field for students.  Students who are not able to afford private test prep tutoring or extensive preparatory classes are not at a huge advance over other students.  This will in turn help all students earn higher scores on the SAT and thus provide them with more opportunities for financial aid for college.      ...

Resource            Flipped Lesson Reflection           I really enjoyed making the flipped lesson for this course.  I found it very useful for my content area.  With math, it would be difficult to have my students listen to something without having a visual, but it would also be difficult to post a visual without an explanation.           Flipping my classroom would allow me to differentiate my instruction and provide one on one attention to my struggling learners.  The students could watch the lesson at their own pace and pause and rewatch the video as necessary.  They could also access the library of videos in order to review for quizzes and tests.           I could also use a flipped lesson when I am absent.  The students will still be able to have quality instruction, and my classes wouldn’t fall behind.  With our school going one t...

Resources Garden Project PBL Differentiated Versions of PBL Reflection           For this artifact I included both by Garden Project PBL and the three differentiated versions of the PBL.  For the PBL, I created a Garden Project in which my students are required to calculate the amount of mulch, flowers, and fencing is needed for a garden given various specifications.  The project requires students to calculate sector area and the length of an arc within the project.  The students are also given a budget, and they must adjust their calculations accordingly in order to stay within budget.  I begin Semester 2 with this project, and I end Semester 2 with a similar project in which students need to design a floor plan for a house.  This is a great into PBL activity to prepare my students for the end of year project.
